Day One.

Standard

Day 1. Put your ipod on shuffle. List the first 10 songs that play and how you feel about them.

  1. The Turtles – So Happy Together

This song is such an old song and funny thing is I probably wasn’t alive to hear it for when it was first played. But the reason why I love this song is because of the Twix commercial, which my cousin then played this song to me. And there is a certain appreciation for a song when you listen to a song without any video to it.

2. J. Cole – Forbidden Fruit

Not one of my favourites from the album – Born Sinner, but I do value J.Cole as a pretty good rapper. But yea, I figure he’s rapping about Adam and Eve and how she took the apple. I do like Kendrick’s little part in it though, oh also it has a pretty good beat.

3. Local Natives – Cards and Quarters

Hmmmm, this band was introduced to me by my ex, which I don’t know how I feel about it right now. He was one of those guys I thought who would be into heavy rap (which he was) but he was also into indie type bands as well. And I genuinely give him props for having really good taste in music.

4. London Grammer – Wasting My Young Years

First off, I love this woman’s voice it is magnificent. It’s deep and rich but also very gentle. This isn’t my favourite song from the album but it really does make me feel like shit when I’m in university because I’m spending my ‘young years’ in this place. I’m not saying it’s a hellhole, but I wish I could be doing something more enlightening rather than read about maps.

5. Alt-J – Breezeblocks

This band was shown to me by a guy I started seeing but decided it wasn’t going to go anywhere. To be honest I don’t know how I feel about it. It kind of reminds of him, where I thought it was going to be really good at first but then I realized it actually wasn’t that great. (sorry for the brutal truth)

6. Jay Sean – Don’t Rush

I love this song. For one it’s so old, I had this song on my mp3 player when I was like 11. Obviously at that age I was singing the lyrics without even knowing what the hell I was singing to, but you know that one day you actually listen to the lyrics and realize how r-rated a song is. Yea. That was me at like the age of 14 or 15. 5 full years without knowing, “touch your breasts and make love” really meant. Yikes.

7. Childish Gambino – Centipede

Not even sure if this is on an EP somewhere, but Gambino is probably the first rapper I consciously listened to. Again shown to me by my ex, but I greatly appreciate it. Although I have seen how dark Gambino has become from when I first heard Camp, but overall I still love how he can make me feel the emotions he has whether it’s hyped or angry.

8. Kendrick Lamar – Institutionalized

To Pimp a Butterfly. This whole album is amazing to me. But generally Kendrick is amazing and I greatly respect him. His metaphors are impeccable and on top of that he doesn’t want to lose himself in the fame, which I would even understand how hard that would be. I usually listen to him when I need a boost.

  1. Eminem – Amityville

Oh Eminem, so angry, so vicious and vulgar. But still so irresistible. I didn’t really listen this album until recently, but even still I really enjoy it. Probably more than his new things. I love his murder-esque, yelling much more than what he’s making now. And I do have to admit that I did have a crush on him when I was younger.

10. Raleigh Ritchie – Stay Inside

Alrighty! Last but not least Raleigh Ritchie. For those who do not know, he’s Greyworm from Game of Thrones. Whaaaat?! I know. He acts and sings! On top of that, this is probably my favourite song from him. It’s very indie, and I had it on repeat for days! “I don’t use the bed in my room, because I don’t want to drop my guard” I mean you have to agree that’s pretty good lyrics. I don’t know how, but to me he’s the perfect combination of indie to rap which I love. And truly I just sometime sit in bed and just listen to him. That’s it.

The Interview.

Standard

I hate firsts.

With anything, I mean it’s the first time someone sees you, makes an judgement about you and stamps you with a word they describe you with. And just hopefully it’s a good one.

And this is with everything.

For example this is my VERY first blog post, and after reading this someone is going to either like me or hate me. That’s how the world works, and it’s terrible that the first impression only last a couple of seconds and within that time you have to do something amazing.

ugh.

If I had to sum up what I’m doing here, it’s basically to write.

Write whatever comes to mind, whether it be a random blurb, a short written porno, or to just vent on how life sucks, it’s gonna be here.

so…

Interview is Over.
